Keep up the good work

Hi everyone. You've been working so hard on Contemporary Cinema. Don't forget the four areas they are looking for in the exam - insights into production, distribution/marketing, exhibition and audience. If you remember this, you won't go far wrong.

Nice to see that everyone's getting ready to start filming. Can't wait to see your thriller intros. Which films have inspired your work? Are you creating something completely new or are you hoping to see if you can match the work of your favourite director?

Here in Media Towers things are hectic. The Key Stage 3 Media Club is EXHAUSTING! The little darlings all want to do complicated shoots with expensive equipment while drinking orange squash and munching custard creams. Mr V and I will be completely white by the end of the year.

We are trying to start a film club - more as soon as we get permission. Suffice to say, it will involve film watching and latte drinking - with ample chance to talk about what we loved and what we didn't. Watch this space...

About time too!

Yes - caught slacking again. It ages since I posted. I've just been catching up with what you've been watching/listening to this week. Some of you really got into Mr V's research project on Sony. And did anyone read Grace's blog on A Clockwork Orange? If not, go and check it out.

Glad you all seem to have enjoyed the little 'film' task this week. I must admit, I wondered if I'd ever see you again as you snatched the cameras and legged it out of the classroom. Only one group went 'wrong'. Please never, ever think it's funny to film racist, sexist or overtly sexual content. It sounds terrible written down, doesn't it? It looks as shocking on film, believe me.

To the rest of you, well done! Let's get it edited next week.

Mrs F starts her blog

Yes, I know I should have been one of the first. After all, I've read your blogs. And insisted you post for your homework. I suppose I just love reading YOUR stuff rather than writing my own.

It's slightly odd teaching Media Studies when my own family are busy creating stuff all around me. Oli (22) is moaning about the long hours at Sky Sports, where he's working on Rugby League sequences for transmission. Tony, my husband, is writing the script for the BBC series on Railways - and complaining that he doesn't have enough time to fit everything in that he wants to say. And Hermione, my daughter, is watching 'behind the scenes' dvds of Harry Potter - Order of the Phoenix- and wondering how she can copy the camera angles on her camcorder. Me - I'm trying to keep warm (I'm miles from the bloomin' Aga) while trying to keep in touch with you and what you're watching. How do you have time to fit in everything that you do? You amaze me!

Tomorrow we're watching Yasmin - and looking at cultural representation. Let's see if you've truly understood mise-en-scene!
